It’s been over a week since my last post where I promised more proactivity and less procrastination. Well I think I’ve done OK. I’ve made 4 necklaces and a bracelet (although I hated one of the necklaces and took it apart an hour later), learnt a new bead weaving stitch (flat spiral), had a play around with my new clay and made a start on photographing pieces for my Etsy store (my second most hated job after listing stuff!). Not bad for the week I think!
I don’t generally do much bead weaving. I know the basics and I love the look of finished pieces but I just don’t have the patience for it. Working with hundreds of tiny little fiddly seed beads, sometimes adding one bead at a time is a laborious process and I applaud anyone who does it on a regular basis. I do however, like to give it try every so often, so when I came across the flat spiral stitch on Pinterest I thought it was a perfect opportunity to get out my beading needles. The stitch was fairly straightforward and I’m happy with the result, I’d definitely use the technique in a future piece.

I had been excited bout trying polymer clay for ages and finally got around to having a play with some of the clay I got from the bead show. I mixed red, white and black and tried my hand at a pattern. I had a lot of fun but I probably won’t be using these for anything as they’re not quite there yet. At least now I know what I need to work on and practice makes perfect. I’ll be caning in no time!!

You have had a busy week! I admire anyone for having enough patience to do bead weaving – a lovely result from your hard work though! I also love looking at bead weave jewellery and am awe-inspired by some of the pieces I have seen on Pinterest, but I know it’s not for me…..all that fiddling and detail, no….. I have found the photographing and listing of my jewellery has got easier now that I am into a sort of routine with it – it’s a bit like a production line now, which eases the pain!

Thanks – it’s taken a while with the photos, but I’m happy with the results I am getting now and it goes a lot quicker! Practice makes perfect so they say 🙂
I am right there with you on photographing for listing, the entire listing process is not something I enjoy at all !! I love your bead weaving , very pretty !! I am about at the same place you are with the clay, just starting and needing patience and practice !! It all takes time I suppose !!
